cellular living

i'm currently working on a residential project based on a voronoi planar composition.

Lúcio Santos, AIA, LEED

A registered architect in the state of New York. He graduated from the Architectural Association Design Research Lab [DRL] post-graduate program receiving a Master of Architecture and Urbanism, and the New Jersey School of Architecture [NJIT] where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

His work experience spans both the US and Europe where he has worked on projects ranging from high-end residential additions and housing complexes to pedestrian bridges, hotels, football stadiums and cultural pavilions. His interest in design as a process of formal experimentation has developed a varied body of work which is constantly evolving.

Lúcio has worked for Zaha Hadid Architects in London on the Zaragoza Bridge Pavilion for the 2008 World Expo. He was in charge of rationalizing the 3d geometry and overall design development of the bridge, where he worked closely with Arup London and Spanish steel fabricators, developing the primary structure and substructure to produce a repetitive system of panelization for the curved façade. Lúcio worked for SOM in New York as a Senior Designer, and as an Architect with FXFOWLE International Studio where he lead the design development of the building geometry and exterior envelope for the Museum of the Built Environment in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In 2004, Lúcio and his team presented their post-graduate design research thesis at the ‘Future Environments’ series held by onedotzero8 at the Institute of Contemporary Arts [ICA], London. He has been a guest critic at the AA, Columbia University, and other institutions.
